Your agent now answers from your real catalog
This is a big one.
Connect your store to a DM Agent and it answers, recommends, places orders and tracks them from your live catalog.
For your team, two things change. The manual upkeep of product answers is done. And the repetitive stock and order-status questions that used to reassign to a person now resolve on their own.
For the business, the agent stops deflecting and starts selling.
What changes for your team
You told us the agent’s product knowledge was only as good as whoever last remembered to update it.
Fair complaint.
Products now sit alongside webpages, files and Q&A pairs as a knowledge source under Resources, with one difference: you don’t type them in. They sync from your store (prices, variations, stock) and stay tied to it.
Here’s the whole thing in one exchange. A customer asks if you’ve got the black one in a medium.
Before, the best the agent could manage was “check the product page.” No price, no stock, nothing to do next. A human stepped in, or the customer drifted off.
Now the agent confirms the medium in black is in stock, names the exact product, gives the price, notes there are six left. There’s an Add to Cart in the chat.
The order gets built in the conversation and the agent is now closing sales, not just answering questions about them.
What your agents will see — If your team works the shared inbox, the agent now resolves product, stock and order-status questions end to end, so fewer of them land in the queue. The ones that still need a person arrive the way they always have, with the thread’s context attached.
Before and after
| Before | Now | |
|---|---|---|
| Product knowledge | Whatever someone typed into instructions, files or Q&A pairs | Pulled from your store, with prices, variations and stock |
| Staying current | Manual. Someone had to notice a change and rewrite the answer | A sync away, or automatic on a cadence you set |
| Confidence in coverage | No way to tell if the agent knew about every product | A sync report showing what was added, updated or dropped |
| Product-level control | All or nothing | A switch on every product, so the agent sells only what you allow |
| How products are described | Store copy, written for a product page | Store copy, or a custom AI description you write per product |
| Recommendations | Generic, from whatever text the agent had | Drawn from real products, with a count, newest-first and price-range options |
| Placing an order | Customer sent elsewhere to figure it out | Order assembled in the chat, handed over as a checkout link |
| Order status questions | Handled by a person every time | Answered by the agent from the order itself |
3 actions your agent can perform
Each is switched on from Actions → Add Action under E-commerce. You describe when it should fire, in plain English.
-
Recommend products. Make suggestions from your live catalog, not from whatever text it was handed. Set how many it offers at once, whether it leads with your newest, and whether it can work to a price range, which is what covers “show me something under 2,000.”
-
Place the order. It builds the order from the cart and sends a checkout link. The customer pays at your store. It can apply a coupon and attach notes the customer will see. Ten products per order, maximum.
-
Track the order. When a customer asks where their order is, the agent asks for the details, looks it up, and tells them. Nobody on your side touches it.
What differs by platform
Most of this behaves identically on Shopify, Salla and Zid. Four things don’t, and the right answer to a customer changes depending on their platform.
This is the table worth knowing before you’re on a call.
| Capability | Shopify | Salla | Zid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Catalog sync and stock | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Product recommendations | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Order placement | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Order tracking (searchable by) | Order ID, email or phone | Order ID or phone | Order ID only |
| Contact details to place an order | Email or phone | Phone | Phone |
| Delivery address at order | Not required | City and street required | Not required |
| Discount codes | Checked before order is created | Checked before order is created | Passed to your store unchecked |
On Salla, asking for an email won’t find the order. On Zid, only the order ID will.
Give customers their platform’s answer, not the general one.
How to set it up
This takes a few minutes per agent.
Connect
- Connect the store. Open your agent → Actions → under E-commerce, select Connect Store and pick your platform.
- Pull the catalog in. Go to Resources → Products and hit the sync button beside the filters. Hover it first to see how many syncs you have left today. Last synced updates when it finishes. Change a filter or reopen the tab to see the products land.
- Keep it current. Open the Auto Sync dropdown and pick a cadence. Or leave it on None and sync by hand.
Control
- Check what came through. View Sync Report (top right) shows when it ran, which kind it was, whether it worked, and the counts: products synced, variants added, updated, and no longer available.
- Decide what the agent can sell. Every row has a switch. Off = Disabled, and the agent stops finding or recommending it. Nothing else about the product changes.
- Rewrite how a product sounds in chat. Open the ⋮ menu → Edit Description and write a Custom AI description (up to 500 characters). Store copy is written for a product page, not a conversation. This fixes that.
Activate
- Add the actions you want. Actions → Add Action under E-commerce. Add Product Recommendations, Order Placement, or Order Tracking.
- Test, then publish. In Test, run a product question, a recommendation, an order and an order-status check the way a customer would. Publish once it behaves.
Auto Sync options
Step 3, spelled out.
| Auto Sync option | What it does |
|---|---|
| None | No automatic refresh. Sync manually when you want to |
| Every day | Refreshes daily |
| Every week | Refreshes weekly |
| Every 15 days | Refreshes twice a month |
| Every 30 days | Refreshes monthly |
Finding products in a large catalog
If your catalog runs into the thousands, the Products table has four ways to narrow it down. Filters show as chips above the table; Clear all drops them in one click.
| Filter | What it narrows to |
|---|---|
| Search Products | A product by name |
| Categories | One or more categories, with a searchable checklist and an Apply Filter step |
| Inventory | In Stock or Out of Stock |
| Status | Enabled products the agent can use, or the Disabled ones you’ve switched off |
Limits
Five syncs a day per connected store. The first sync when you connect, and every Auto Sync run, come out of the same five. Resets at midnight UTC. On a daily cadence, one is already spent.
Stock has its own clock. Stock levels refresh roughly every six hours regardless of cadence, so availability stays close to your store between full syncs. Close, not instant. See the FAQ.
One store per agent. Once connected, it can’t be swapped, disconnected, or reused by another agent.
FAQ
Do I have to do anything for my current setup to keep working? No. Your existing instructions, files and Q&A pairs stay as they are. Products is an added source. To switch the catalog on, connect a store.
Does this add work for my team? It removes it. Setup is a few minutes per agent, once. After that, the upkeep that used to be manual runs on a sync, and the repetitive questions run themselves.
Where do I turn it on? Go to Actions → E-commerce → Connect Store. The catalog appears under Resources → Products, with the connected store named above the table.
Will it try to sell something that’s out of stock? Unlikely to get that far. The catalog can lag by up to about six hours, so a recommendation can occasionally surface an item that just sold out. But payment happens on your store’s own checkout, which works from your live stock.
Does this replace my inventory system? No. It reads your store’s catalog and stock. It is not an inventory or warehouse system, and it does not connect to one.
How many times can it sync? Five a day per store, shared with Auto Sync, resetting at midnight UTC. Stock refreshes independently every six hours or so.
Can two agents share one store? No. One store, one agent. A connected store can’t be swapped or disconnected.
